Palma de Mallorca or simply Palma, is the major city and port on the island of Majorca (Mallorca). It is also the capital city of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands off the east coast of Spain. This city holds almost half of the total population of Majorca. The city is situated on the Bay of Palma in the western Mediterranean Sea. The south side is bordered by rocky inlets and marinas and the majority of the tourist resorts are located on the east side of the city. Palma de Mallorca [1] is the island’s only true city.

Business Information

Tourism is a major component of Palma de Mallorca’s economy. Palma is home to the luxurious five-star Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa. Sotheby International Realty has office space in Mallorca in order to accommodate the Europeans who contribute to the resident tourism of the island.

Entertainment And Dining Out

There are many things to do and sights to see in the Palm area of Mallorca. Many are based upon the beaches and the sea, but there is also a mountain range to discover, castles, a monastery, cathedrals, gardens, and rocky inlets. La Seu is Palma’s famous cathedral. It was built on the site of a mosque, construction beginning in 1229. It wasn’t finished 1601. The Parc de la Mar (Park of the Sea) is just south of the cathedral. The park offers a lovely place to sit and watch the ocean and the people. The park’s benches are covered with large canopies. Dining options include the Tapas Club - featuring cocktails and plates of tapas set out on the bar. La Boveda – is a local favourite that offers a tapas bar and more formal dining with dishes of grilled local fish and large portions of veal and pork.

Transport Information

Palma’s city airport offers daily flights to many international destinations. The airport is just 9 km (5.5 miles) from the centre of Palma. There is bus service running between the sea port, the city centre, and the airport on a regular basis. This airport is the third largest in Spain, and operates year-round services to many international destinations. The PM-1, PM-27 and PM-19 are major highways originating in Palma de Mallorca that make driving around the island efficient.
