Dalston is a district of North East London, situated in the London Borough of Hackney. Dalston has been identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London. The gentrification of the area within the past five years has led to a rapid increase in the price of property. This process was accelerated by the East London line extension, now part of London Overground. The reopening of Dalston Junction Station was part of London s successful bid to hold the 2012 Olympics. The Guardian published an article on Dalston in 2009, claiming that it was the "coolest" place to live in Britain, and it is still now known for its quirky bars, trendy restaurants, hipsters and pop-up shops and eateries.

Setting up your business here

The majority of businesses located in Dalston are creative, and the area is known for its independent boutiques and eateries. There are many start-up technology companies in the area, partly due to its close proximity to London’s ‘Silicon Roundabout’, by Old Street. Networking opportunities are plentiful in the vicinity, with many after-work or breakfast meeting groups being set up for this purpose.
