Cramlington is a small town just a few miles north of Newcastle, in the county of Northumberland. While the town was mainly rural in its early days, the discovery of coal in the surrounding areas led to more people settling in the area. Housing estates began springing up and soon Cramlington became an important town in the area, even housing a home-defence company during the First World War. River Blyth flows right through Plessey Woods Country Park, which shares its borders with Cramlington while Northumberlandia, a sculpture of a reclining woman, is situated just outside the boundaries of the town.

Cramlington is home to AMS North East Ltd. and Potts Print, both of which have office space in the town. There are a number of other companies including builders and architectural firms, who have offices in the area. Professional such as lawyers, doctors, landscape artists, graphic designers, and interior decorators are also based in Cramlington.

The town offers a few interesting entertainment options with Delta Force Paintball being the biggest source of fun for the entire family out in Newelwood forest. PA Common Theatre is the best place to enjoy live-performances and stage productions. When it comes to eating out there is no shortage of options, both in terms of number or variety. Aphrodite offers delicious Greek food while Lal Qila serves up spicy Indian dishes. San Lorenzo is the place to pick up Italian food or you can head to Moor Farm Beefeater for sumptuous steaks.

Transport Information

When it comes to transport, bus, taxi or coach services provide a convenient way to get around with the A189 and B1326 connecting the town to nearby places. The A1 and A19 also run through the area while Newcastle Airport is the nearest and biggest airport to the town for air travel links. Cramlington Railway Station offers connectivity to Newcastle and MetroCentre via the East Coast Main Line and has a midnight service to Middlesbrough as well.
