The town of Aylesbury is situated just on the perimeter of the London Commuter Belt. The area itself has deep roots with excavations indicating that the area dates back to the Iron Age. The burial place of St Osyth, the town boasts a long and rich history that goes back many centuries. In 1529, King Henry VIII declared that Aylesbury would be the new county town of the area – some believe that he did this to gain favour with Thomas Boleyn, father to Anne, as he owned many properties in the area including Aylesbury Manor. There are many places of interest and landmarks to explore in this town, many of which reflect its history. This includes Buckinghamshire County Museum, the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery, and the historic King’s Head Inn.
