Worthing is a town and a borough in the county of West Sussex, and lies at the foothills of the South Downs, close to the sea. Once the location of the British Isles’ largest collection of flint mines, the former fishing village is now a popular resort town with tourists. The Iron Age Hill Fort is one of the largest medieval forts in Britain while Midsummer Tree, near Broadwater Green, is said to be over 300 years old. The town is full of open spaces including Marine Gardens, Field Place and Homefield Park. Worthing Open Houses is an annual art festival held in Worthing, which is a major cultural centre in the area.

Bus and coach services provide transport along the A24 to London, and the A27 to Brighton. The A259 connects the town to places in Hampshire and Kent.
