A British Crown Dependency, the island of Jersey is positioned close to the coast of Normandy in France and is officially known as the Bailiwick of Jersey. This is a self governed island and is in fact the largest of all the Channel Islands. While Jersey has close links to both the UK and Europe it is not a part of either and actually has its own international identity. Jersey’s history is thought to date back over one thousand years and evidence shows that it was once a hive of Neolithic activity. Evidence of early Iron Age as well as Bronze Age settlements have also been found around the island. Jersey is an island with plenty of culture and a variety of events take place here including the Jersey Jazz Festival and the Jersey Food Festival. Attractions and landmarks include the medieval Mont Orgueil Castle and the historic Jersey War Tunnels.

You can also enjoy a variety of performances at the Jersey Opera House in St Helier. A plethora of restaurants can be found all around the island, with something to suit every taste. Sample the sumptuous British dishes at the Ocean Restaurant, enjoy European dishes at Pedros or head to Feast for a choice of international cuisine.
