The historic market town of Hitchin is situated in the northern part of Hertfordshire, a county in South England. It is believed that the town gets its name from the beautiful River Hiz that flows in the area. Historically a large producer of wool, the region became extremely prosperous on the back of the wool trade. The opening of the railway line in the mid 1800s was a kind of new beginning for the region. With the Corn Exchange being located here, the entire area became famous for grain trading. Few remnants of the area’s past remain today, with the current economy being supported by various businesses related to the designing industry. The British Schools Museum and Hitchin Lavender Farm & Gardens are some of the notable attractions in the area.

Business Information

Serviced offices are mostly occupied by professionals including doctors, alternative medicine practitioners, solicitors and computer experts. Redmayne-Bentley stockbrokers have offices in town as do Acorn estate agents. The Arcade off Market Square is a quaint area that houses several retail spaces.
